Territorial Methodology for Andean Bear and Chiroptera Conservation

Mountain Ecosystem Context

Támesis encompasses an elevation gradient spanning from tropical dry forests to high-altitude cloud forests. This ecological corridor provides critical habitat for the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus), Oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus), Yellow-eared Parrot, and diverse bat assemblages.

Methodological Deployment

We engineered an innovative place-based conservation curriculum:

1. Open-Air Living Laboratories: Experiential training delivered directly inside private and municipal nature reserves.
2. Chiroptera Valuation: Dispelling stigma and highlighting bat pollination and pest regulation ecosystem services.
3. Community Capacity Building: Training rural educators and youth leaders in local biological assessment.
